What is Google Verification Code? - Definition
Google verification code - this is a password, usually a multi-digit code, sent by Google to verify the owner of a Google account or a Google Maps listing. Thanks to this, Uncle Google is sure who the login attempt comes from, and thus ensures that your data and sensitive information do not leak and do not fall into the hands of an unauthorized person.

When and why do you need a Google verification code?
Google sends verification codes in various cases. When the issue concerns your Google Account - you will receive the code in the form of an SMS message to the provided phone number. In the case of logging in to a private account, Google may request verification of identity if:
you have trouble logging in to your Google Account or if you want to reset your password,
during 2-step verification - when you enable this feature in your account settings, Google verifies your phone number, and then for each subsequent login you will be asked to use the Google verification code. 2-step verification is an extremely effective way to protect your Gmail account from hacking attempts,
Google has detected suspicious activity on your account—for example, technical changes to your account,
Google will notice a suspicious attempt to log in to your Google account - logging in from a different location or from a different device,
Google suspects you are a robot.
Another instance where Google may require the use of a twitter database verification code is to verify ownership of a Google Business Profile, or Google listing. When does Google require verification?
If you are creating a new business account - when you create a profile, you will be asked for a verification code. If you are lucky, a business card can be created without verification (usually by connecting to Google Search Console ),
if due to suspicious activity on your company profile it will be suspended or the verification already held will be revoked,
if Google suspects that your business does not exist or is in violation of the regulations,
if your Google business account is accessed by third parties whose profiles Google considers suspicious.
If your listing has been working fine so far and now requires verification, it is worth knowing that this does not mean it has been suspended - a listing requiring verification is visible on Google and displayed to potential customers, but you cannot make any changes, add photos or updates to it.
What are the ways to verify your business profile on Google?
In the case of business card verification, there are several ways to confirm the existence of a company.
Postcard with verification code
Simply enter and confirm your name or company details for receiving mail in the form, and Google will send you a postcard to the address provided on your business card.
SMS or phone call
When you set up your company profile on Google, you will have the option to add a phone number - it is used not only for communication with customers, but also for verification! You can receive a verification code via text message or phone call to the provided phone number.
As with the phone number, when verifying your Google Profile, a multi-digit verification code may be sent to your company domain email after the @.
Live video call
A verification method that doesn’t require a Google verification code is a live video call — during the call, you need to prove that the company you want to verify exists and operates in the given location. Typically, you need to schedule such a call with a support agent, who asks you to confirm during the video that you have access to the rooms designated for employees only.

Another way to verify your listing without using a verification code is through a verification video. You will need to record a video that proves that your business is located and operating at the address provided.

Where do I enter the Google verification code?
When creating a new account or business card on Google, a code is sent during profile registration.
If your company profile on Google requires verification, the following status will be displayed next to your business card in the panel:

After clicking "Verify", a verification window appears. This is where you need to choose one of the available verification methods. As you can see in the image below, in this case, Google allows verification in two ways: using a phone number (SMS or phone call) and an email address.

After expanding one of the options, you will see the option to choose the language in which you want to verify your business card, and then two options: SMS or phone call. Through these means of contact, you will receive a multi-digit verification code and now there is only one more step left!

Or maybe you have just experienced verification via postcard – what then?
You should have a Google card in your hands within about 2 weeks of clicking “Send.” If Google lets you verify your profile by sending a postcard with a verification code, you can enter the code by clicking “Business Profile Manager.” There will be an “Enter Code” button right next to your verification status.
