SEO, where to start?

Disclaimer: We will use Google as a reference, but SEO covers all existing search engines.
When we begin to understand the importance of web positioning, we take the first steps on a path that, in my experience, has no end.
For this reason, ask yourself a question:
Do I want to take charge myself or would it be better to delegate?
Obviously you don't know the answer yet. I'll help you.
Do you have time to read, test, measure, optimize and repeat?
NO = delegate.
YES = delegate.
The best thing you can do is delegate, either to a specialist or to a specialized SEO agency .
Because?
Because the investment you will have to make in time and effort is much less if you delegate.
Even so, you have not come here to hire our SEO services but to learn where to start with the most basic things.
Okay, here we go.
Search for your company or website name on Google
It seems like an obvious step, but this is the first indicator of whether you're off to a good start.
Searches made by users of your brand should always lead to your website or at least to a place that you control: website, Google MyBusiness listing, Facebook page, etc.
“I don’t see my website when I search, what should I do?”
The first thing you should do is check if your website is accessible to ghana whatsapp number data 5 million search engines.
This means that your website has its doors open and allows the information it contains to be found.
You can check it here: https://technicalseo.com/tools/robots-txt/
Enter your website URL.
Choose “Googlebot Smartphone”.
Click on “Test”.
Check that there is NOT a line that says “Disallow: /”
This would mean that we are closing the door to any search engine and therefore they are unable to access it.

Search for the word or phrase for which you would like to appear in the first position
Let me give you a piece of advice before you do.
If you have a shoe store, you should not appear for the search “shoes” or “shoe store”.
These two words are too broad to provide any benefit.
Instead, you want Google to show your website for a search like “shoe store in Tenerife” or even better “shoe store Santa Cruz de Tenerife”.
Reaching the top positions for these searches will allow people with a greater intention to buy to reach your website and therefore with greater possibilities of generating income.
Here's a chart that explains this:

Do you appear on the first page of Google for that search?
“Yes,” great. Keep reading, I’m sure you’ll find it interesting.
“No,” don’t worry, we’ll see what happens.
Review the content of your website
Take a look at your website and answer this question:
If a potential customer is searching for my product or service, is this what they would like to find?
If the answer is NO, you need to make urgent changes so that the answer is a resounding YES.
Analyze what your direct competitors, or those you consider leaders in your sector, are doing, even if it is not at a local level, and improve what they have.
There is no need to reinvent the wheel, at least initially.
Good images, simple and clear texts, contact information, customer reviews, etc.
Analyze title, description and texts
Among the elements that you must take into account when optimizing your website, there are 3 that are fundamental initially:
Title: This is an HTML tag that tells search engines what they will find on each page within our website.
Description: another HTML tag that allows us to introduce a description that is somewhat longer than the title.
Texts: It is not necessary to have the entire bible on your website. It is a false myth in SEO that the length of the texts helps positioning, but you must optimize them to satisfy the user's search and naturally include the words or phrases you want to position.
Make sure that in all of them you naturally include the word or phrase for which you want to position your website.
Both the title and description are displayed in Google results, now you can imagine why they are so important and not just for SEO.
SEO Titles and Descriptions
Titles in blue and descriptions in black.
Continuing with the shoe store example, these would be my suggestions:
Title: Shoe store in Santa Cruz de Tenerife | (Brand)
Description: Visit our shoe store in Santa Cruz de Tenerife where we have a wide range of models and sizes waiting for you.
Text (first paragraph): At (Brand) we have a wide range of models and sizes. We have the best Spanish and international footwear brands. Visit our shoe store in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Calle…
Some tips for optimizing titles and descriptions:
Try placing the keyword at the beginning of titles and descriptions.
Keep the length between 45-55 characters for titles and between 140-150 for descriptions.
Include your company/brand name at the end of each title to reinforce your branding.
The content of these elements should always be consistent with the content the user will find on the page.
Find out how to modify your page titles and descriptions depending on the system you used (WordPress, WIX, etc.).
