Reduce the amount of emails sent and their weight

Post by simarahman5835 »

Use an eco-friendly host
To go hand in hand with the previous point, to limit your digital pollution you can host your website with an eco-responsible host like Infomaniak which uses renewable energy for its servers and offsets its carbon impact.

Change your search engine
Even though Google is making efforts to use clean energy to run its servers, it is possible to use more eco-responsible search engines like Ecossia or Lilo that generate a positive impact through our searches. With Ecossia, our internet searches are used to plant trees and fight against deforestation. With Lilo, they are transformed into drops of water that you can transform into a donation for social or ecological associations.

We don't think about it when we make the seemingly innocuous gesture of sending an email with a fairly large attachment. But sending this message has an impact on the environment. Opening an email and reading the attachment directly on your computer can consume more energy than printing the document in black and white on both sides. So to limit its impact, we avoid sending the same email to 50 people by sharing it via a Google Drive or a Dropbox for example (even if it's not an optimal solution, I grant you).

Sort your emails
Even if it's a drop in the ocean, the emails that remain in your mailbox consume energy. Especially all the newsletters you subscribe to and don't read. To limit your impact and unclog your mailbox, you can hong kong whatsapp unsubscribe from all the newsletters you no longer read and delete messages that are too old . You can do it manually (even if it takes a long time) or use Cleanfox which does it for you.But after the euphoria of the end of 2018-beginning of 2019, it's a downfall. My big contract ends as planned at the end of February. I loved my mission and the company was totally in line with my values. However, the last six months have been emotionally complicated. I'm finishing this mission drained, without even realizing it because I have my head down .

As always, I continue to move forward. In April, I release my first online training. It doesn't take off. Neither does my individual support. I no longer have clients coming in and therefore no more income . I find myself with nothing, with only my savings from the last few months to pay my rent and eat. My big mission took up a lot of my time and mental space. So much so that I didn't prospect during this period. And I have to admit, it's not something that I enjoy very much. Like the year before, spring 2019 is complicated financially. And morally.=

Reduce your time online
Easier said than done (I'm a bit too addicted to the internet myself) but to limit your digital pollution, the best solution is to disconnect more often and use the internet less often in general.
